Personal injury solicitors Rochdale have
expressed concern over a fire on a train in the borough.
The Manchester to Leeds train caught alightnear to Wardle's Bell Field Mill Lane, with Chadderton, Heywood and
Littleborough fire crews heading to the incident on November 21st at
3.38pm.
All three carriages of the train needed to
be evacuated, and approximately 150 people were on the train at the time of the
incident. While there were no injuries, there was quite a significant amount of
smoke.
No win no fee solicitors Rochdale are
concerned as to what this means for the safety of the trains in the North West.
The fire service said the blaze involved a diesel tack, which was located in
the middle carriage underneath the floor of the train. This fire had risen up
through the floor because of its intensity, and the diesel fumes created a lot
of potentially damaging smoke.
Fire-fighters found it somewhat challenging
to deal with the blaze, as the train was in a remote location, with the nearest
access point to the train around half a mile away. Fire-fighters needed to run
hoses and carry equipment a long way to deal with the problem. Trains in both
directions had to be temporarily stopped, and it took more than three hours to
put the fire properly out. Engineers were then required to remove the
fire-damaged train from the track.
An accident at work happened on train lines
earlier this month, involving a 29-year-old male from Chorley who accidentally
touched emergency power lines on November 5th. His injuries were not
life-threatening, but the ambulance services were required and he needed to be
airlifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The police and fire service
also attended the incident.
The injured worker appeared to have
suffered burns due to his electric shock. The Rain Accident Investigation
Branch is looking into the incident and British Transport Police examined the
scene of the incident to understand exactly what led to the incident. No win no
fee solicitors Rochdale wish the victim the best of luck in his recovery.
