How To Purchase Auto Insurance

Auto Insurance
Purchasing auto insurance is the first step you need to take after you buy or lease a vehicle. If you are leasing or financing a car then then you will usually need to have full coverage on the vehicle. If you buy a car outright then you have some more options. Regardless of which route you take whether it be buying, leasing, or financing a vehicle, it is important that you are aware of how to find the best insurance rates and what type of insurance coverage you need for your vehicle. In this article I will be going over some simple steps you can take in order to find the best and most affordable insurance for you.

Get Quoted

While looking for insurance you should expand your search to at least five different companies. Different insurance companies will give you different rates depending on what you are using the vehicle for. Instead of going to just one or two insurance companies and seeing what rate they will give you, check out five or six and let those insurance companies know if you have a better offer on the table and they may lower theirs to you. Just because you think that someone gives you a great quote doesn't mean it is the best by any means at all.

What Are You Driving

It may be too late for this, but if you have not already purchased a car or if you are looking to trade in your vehicle now for something different then this could help. The basic rule of auto insurance is the more expensive the car, the more expensive to insure. If you go out and buy a brand new BMW for $70,000 dollars your insurance rates will be through the roof. Reason being, if anything happens to that car the parts are possibly going to cost thousands to repair. Now if you go out and purchase a Honda civic or a more economical and less expensive car your insurance premiums will be low. So before you go out and buy a new sports car or expensive luxury car make sure that you can afford to pay the high insurance rates that go along with the vehicle.

What Type of Coverage Do You Need

Sometimes it is not about what insurance coverage you want but what you need. If you go to a dealer and have the money to purchase a vehicle outright instead of making payments then you will have more options as to if you want full coverage on the car or basic. Now if you go lease a car or you decide to buy one and finance the vehicle then you are usually required to get full coverage for the car.

Full coverage is going to cover you and the other driver if you happen to get in an accident or something goes wrong with the car. If you just have basic coverage then you will be covered if you hit another person's vehicle, but if you are hit you may not be covered. What you will need to do is talk to your insurance agent and have them go over all the different types of coverage's and what the differences are between them. This way you will have a good idea of what you do and don’t need for your car.

Finding auto insurance can take some time. It is important for you to understand that the first quote you get may not be the best. Shop around at different insurance agencies, find the best price and plan for you, and get your car insured and on the road!

Getting A Discount On Your Farmers Car Insurance Could Be As Easy As Just Asking

Car insurance can be expensive, especially if you are a family with more than one car. If you are a family with more than one car and a teen driver in the house (or on the way), your bills can be very steep. It’s one reason why nearly every car insurance provider will offer you the chance to reduce your car insurance premium by applying for select insurance premium discounts.

Farmers is the nation’s 5th largest car insurance provider (as measured by direct premium and market share) and as with other leading insurers, it offers a host of ways you and your family can save on car insurance. If you are a current customer with Farmers, make sure your agent informs you about these discounts. (If you’re considering Farmers as a new option for your car insurance coverage, make sure the agent you’ve been speaking with let’s you know about these discounts.)
  • Bundle and save – when you combine your Farmers car insurance with another Farmers product (homeowners, renters, life, motorcycle, etc.) you can enjoy discounts on the premium for all your Farmers products.
  • Select professions and business groups – if you happen to belong to certain business organizations, associations, sororities/fraternities or trade groups, Farmers offers select discounts through an affinity program. You may also qualify for premium discounts if you work in select professions such as teaching, medicine, emergency services, first responders, nursing or dentistry (these vary from state to state so be sure to ask your agent.)
  • Shop & buy early – if you have requested a quote from Farmers for car insurance coverage and you go ahead and take on a new Farmers policy within 7 days of that quote (providing you haven’t let your existing/previous policy lapse) Farmers can extend you additional premium discounts.
  • Good students – if you are under the age of 25 and are a full-time student (high school, community college, college, etc.) Farmers adds an incentive for you to get and keep good grades as you and your family can enjoy some nice premium discounts if your grade point average is “B” or better (in some cases Farmers offers the discount if a student makes the Dean’s List, lands in the top 10 percent for all students at a school or passes an equivalency test.)
  • Safe & clean drivers – maintain a safe, clean driving record (no at-fault accidents and no point-inducing or major infractions) for a select period of time (even if you racked up the record with a previous insurance carrier) and you can earn additional discounts from Farmers (the length of time needed to qualify can vary from state to state and plan to plan.)
  • Multi-car plans – insure more than one car with Farmers and you can qualify for premium discounts for each car
  • Go green – if you drive and insure an alternative fuel vehicle (electric, bio-diesel, etc.) or if you drive and insure a hybrid car, Farmers will reward your good stewardship by extending additional car insurance premium discounts.
While it's possible (and encouraged) to combine as many discounts as you can to lower your monthly car insurance bill, Farmers is not able to offer all of these discounts (or all of the same percentages of each of these discounts) to drivers in every state. One quick way to find out if a discount is available in your state (and how much you maybe eligible for) is to use Farmer’s online quoting tool.

Visit the Farmers website. From there, you can plug in your zip code, plug in the levels and types of coverage you want and the tool will show you the discounts you may be eligible for. It’s an excellent way to lower your bills and get a sense of whether you truly are getting a good deal on your car insurance coverage.

Top 5 Questions You Must Ask Before Saying Yes To Insurance

It can be very confusing when looking into business insurance policies. How do you know exactly what you need cover for? How do you know if you are getting the best possible deal for your money? This is where insurance brokers come in handy, as they act as a source of knowledge and advice. Their expertise lies in the insurance industry and can make sure that you are not only covered properly but you are getting the most for your money.

Before saying yes to a broker it is worth doing the necessary research, in order to find out if they are reputable or not. Below are a few questions that you should ask:

1. What is the broker’s stability?

There are many ways to find out a broker's stability. You can either search online for feedback or ask to see their ‘Credit Check’ report. If you find any cause of concern relating to online feedback or their report simply ask them about it.

2. Does the broker have in depth knowledge about your policy?

Insure that the broker knows the ‘in and outs’ of your business. For example, if you are a small business owner, are they experienced in this area? This is especially important if you are a new business just starting out, as there are many obstacles to overcome, ensure having the right policy is dealt with ASAP. Also check that the broker can find a policy that can include additional features such as; group health insurance for start-up businesses. The broker will make it crystal clear and provide everything in writing and ensure you understand all the terms, conditions and limitations before going on cover.

3. How long has the broker been in the business for?

Whilst a broker who is fairly new to the industry may come at a discounted price, they may not have the same in-depth knowledge as someone who has had years of experience. So you may be saving money but is it worth it in the long run? Do they offer claims support?

4. Can you talk to past customers?

Even though this is rare, some brokers may not have available online feedback, which doesn’t necessarily mean that they are a bad company to go into business with. If this is a case you could ask the broker to provide you with a list of past customers and then you can get in contact either over the phone or email, to see if they were happy with the service they received.

5. Ask the broker if parameters can be changed for the premium:

This is very important. Ask the broker if there is flexibility of changing the associated parameters of the premium, as you could end up saving money in the long run e.g. higher excess.

Conclusion

These are only a few areas to explore when using a broker to find the best possible insurance policy for you. More questions will most probably arise when you sit down with a broker to discuss, so don’t be afraid to ask, no matter how silly you may think it is. At the end of the day you don’t want to be left out of pocket.

Tips From Your Car Accident Lawyer On Filing A Claim

car-accident-attorney
A car accident is one of the most stressful situations you can ever find yourself in, no matter how minor it seems at the time. There are many things for a driver to remember to do immediately following an incident, and one of those first few steps will be contacting your insurance company. Chances are, you will want to make sure you're able to recoup as much costs as possible for car repairs, medical bills, etc. In order to do that, you must know how to properly deal with your insurance company throughout the claims process. A car accident lawyer is best equipped to ensure you are protected by guiding you through this list of dos and don'ts on filing a claim.

DO: Look Over Your Insurance Policy and Make Contact Right Away

The initial step to filing a claim is to call your insurance company or agent and report the accident. This needs to be done as soon as you are able to make contact, depending on your need for medical attention. Having knowledge beforehand of what is covered and excluded in your particular policy will help determine exactly what you are allowed to include in your claim as well as clue you in as to any time limits you have on filing or taking legal action.

DON'T: Volunteer an Overabundance of Information

When people are nervous or go into panic mode they often volunteer details of an incident that can end up working against them. Unless you stick strictly to the main facts, you may mistakenly give information that is later used to deny or reduce your compensation. Beyond the basics, you are not required to give any more information, and from there, it is the insurance company's responsibility to review all the circumstances of the case and establish liability.

DO: Document Everything

Most people are already well aware that they must get all pertinent information at the scene of the accident, including the other driver's name, contact details, insurance info, driver's license number, etc., but in all the confusion, they may forget to take photos or get witness testimony, which is just as important. These can serve as evidence in your favor during the claims process. Besides keeping records of all this information, it's also vital to collect bills and receipts of any expenses that have to do with your claim and document every interaction you have with your insurance company, even if you believe they're on your side.

DON'T: Fail to Consult With a Car Accident Lawyer

A car accident lawyer will be able to advise you in every aspect of the claims process and communicate directly with your insurance company on your behalf so you don't have to deal with them. Drivers who don't consult with an attorney often make many errors, such as settling prematurely, giving the insurer statements in writing, accepting what the insurance company says as law and agreeing to sign documents or waivers without knowing what they are. Any of these actions can negatively impact the compensation you're entitled to considerably.
Familiarize yourself with these dos and don'ts in the unfortunate event that you become involved in an accident, and speak with a car accident lawyer before you take any steps towards filing a claim.

4 Everyday Things That Can End Up Costing A Lot Of Money

Life isn’t a very cheap experience to go through and there are plenty of things that want to take some money out of your wallet every day. The cost of living is rising at the moment and this means that you really need to find ways to cut down some costs.
To help you out here are four everyday things that can easily end up costing a lot of money. So make sure that you keep an eye on them and keep your spending in control.

Cut costs1. Going For The Cheap Products

Many people think that if they pick the cheapest product on offer they will end up saving a lot more money. Although it isn’t a bad idea to select the cheaper cheese instead of the more expensive one, there are some products where the quality should really trump the price.
For example, if you really need a car, perhaps for business purposes, it isn’t a good idea to get a really cheap one that hardly stays together. You will most likely end up spending more on repairs and such than you would if you invested a bit more money.
You also won’t end up saving a lot of money if you are driving around the town after discounts. Gas prices as well as your own time are also worth money and it is a good idea to include them to your calculations when chasing cheap deals.

TfL downgrades junction improvement scheme

Transport for London (TfL) has reviewed its plan to renovate the most dangerous junctions in London and has instead said the programme will deal with just 33 locations, deemed 'high priority'. This is instead of the 100 junctions it had previously said it would deal with.

In the light of these comments, personal injury solicitors London have called for TfL to seriously engage with the need for road safety improvements in London, and to take prompt action to deal with the rising number of fatal cycling accidents in the city.

TfL's delivery schedule calls for 25 of these new 33 junctions to be delivered by 2015 to 2016, with the remaining 8 earmarked for 2020 to 2021. London Mayor Boris Johnson has also pledged to invest another £100 million on his junction review scheme, with this money to be spent by 2015 to 2016.
Last year, TfL pledged to complete improvements to ten of the region's junctions before the end of 2012, and by the end of 2013, it has pledged to update 50 junctions.

Lytham St Annes solicitors call for flood safety measures

Following the recent flooding that affected parts of the Fylde coast, no win no fee solicitors Lytham St Annes are calling for the government to ramp up investment in flood defences, as this would improve public safety.

personal injury solicitors Lytham St Annes are also calling for the government to ramp up investments in green technology, and to push for international action in this critical issue, as rising sea levels and climate change will put the nation's coasts under increased pressure.

The flood insurance scheme recently unveiled by the Environmental Secretary will go some way to protecting people from the consequences of flooding, but it fails to consider the impact of future climate change and surface water flooding, and these inadequacies could cause people problems in the future.
